Publication Ethics of Juridisch Denken Law Journal

The Publication Ethics of Juridisch Denken Law Journal aims to uphold the highest ethical standards throughout the article publishing process, involving all stakeholders, namely authors, editors, peer-reviewers, and the publisher Faculty of Law Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. This ethical framework is based on the esteemed COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Principles

At Juridisch Denken Law Journal, we recognize that peer-reviewed articles play a fundamental role in shaping a reputable and coherent knowledge network. As such, these articles reflect the authors' work quality and the institutions supporting them while embodying the scientific method. To maintain the integrity of scholarly publishing, we establish and endorse ethical norms applicable to all parties involved:

  1. Authors' Responsibilities:

Authors submitting research reports must adhere to the following ethical principles:

  • Presenting accurate and objective accounts of their work's significance, ensuring proper acknowledgment of others' contributions and influential publications.
  • Ensuring originality in their work and appropriately citing or quoting others' work and ideas used.
  • Avoiding multiple, redundant, or concurrent publication in different journals, as it constitutes unethical behavior.
  • Providing access to underlying data for editorial review and public access, if feasible, and retaining the data for a reasonable period after publication.
  • Disclosing any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could potentially influence the manuscript's results or interpretation.
  1. Editorial Decisions:

The editors at Juridisch Denken Law Journal shoulder the responsibility of evaluating submitted manuscripts, guided by their importance to researchers and readers. The editorial decisions must not be influenced by factors such as race, gender, religion, ethnicity, or political beliefs of the authors. Decisions are bound by legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

  1. Duties of Reviewers:

Reviewers' role is crucial in aiding editorial decisions and improving the quality of the manuscript. Reviewers must:

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively, without personal criticism towards the author.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the review process and not disclose information about the manuscript to unauthorized individuals.
  • Identify relevant published work that authors have not cited and bring any substantial similarities or overlaps to the editor's attention.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and refrain from using privileged information for personal advantage.
  1. Publisher's Commitment:

Faculty of Law Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro, as the publisher of Juridisch Denken Law Journal, is dedicated to safeguarding the publishing process's integrity. The publisher ensures that advertising, commercial revenue, or other external factors do not influence editorial decisions. The publisher and editorial board facilitate communications with other journals or publishers when necessary.

  1. Handling Fundamental Errors:

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they have an obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher. Authors must cooperate with the editor to correct or retract the paper, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the scientific record.
