Integrasi Nilai Ekoliterasi dalam Buku Bacaan Literasi Pendukung Kurikulum Merdeka sebagai Sarana Penguatan Karakter Siswa SD
Abstract
Environmental degradation continues to demand education that cultivates ecological awareness and character from an early stage. The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes the development of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly in the domain of faith, piety to God Almighty, and noble character, which includes environmental ethics. This study aims to analyze the integration of ecoliteracy values in the children’s storybook Menjaga Laut Raja Ampat and to evaluate its potential as a character-strengthening medium. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis focused on textual and visual elements. Data were examined through four components of ecoliteracy namely knowledge, attitude, behavior, and cognitive skills. The results indicated that ecological knowledge is portrayed through local fishing practices based on biological principles. Ecological attitudes are expressed through emotional responses and commitment to marine conservation. Ecological behavior is represented by environmentally responsible actions in line with traditional practices. Cognitive skills are reflected in the protagonist’s ability to critically assess and internalize ecological values inherited from the community. These findings confirm that the book possesses strong potential as an alternative literacy source that supports the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. The story integrates cultural values and environmental awareness, contributing meaningfully to character education and contextual ecological learning.
