Community Education and Service Journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes the results of community service, community engagement, and empowerment programs. Published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro, Indonesia, CESJ provides a scholarly platform for academics, practitioners, and community partners to document how multidisciplinary knowledge is applied to strengthen communities' understanding, skills, and capacity.

CESJ treats community service as a scholarly activity: each article must identify a real partner problem, describe a planned intervention grounded in theory, report measurable or well-documented outcomes, and reflect critically on its contribution. All articles are published in English, assessed through double-blind peer review, and made freely available immediately upon publication.

AIMS & SCOPE

Aims. CESJ aims to (1) disseminate evidence-based community service and empowerment practices; (2) bridge higher-education research with the needs of schools, villages, MSMEs, organizations, and local communities; (3) encourage replicable and sustainable engagement models; and (4) strengthen the scholarly culture of community service in Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region.

Scope. The journal welcomes community service and empowerment articles in the following areas:

• Education and learning: teacher professional development, school mentoring, literacy and numeracy programs, learning media, and inclusive and non-formal education.
• Social sciences and humanities: community development, local wisdom, religious and moral education, family resilience, social inclusion.
• Science and technology: appropriate technology, digital literacy, information systems for communities, and environmental and disaster-risk programs.
• Business and economics: MSME empowerment, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital marketing, village enterprise (BUMDes) management.
• Arts and culture: creative industries, preservation of cultural heritage, arts-based community education.
• Health: health promotion, nutrition education, sanitation and hygiene, community health literacy.

CESJ particularly encourages participatory approaches (e.g., PAR, ABCD, CBR, and service learning) and programs that report sustainability and partner-level impact. Manuscripts reporting purely laboratory or theoretical research without a community partner fall outside the scope.
