AUTHORSHIP & CONTRIBUTORSHIP
POACE: Jurnal Program Studi Administrasi Pendidikan requires authorship to reflect substantive scholarly contributions and accountability for the published work. Author contribution statements must accurately describe the roles and responsibilities of each author in conducting the research and preparing the manuscript.
1. ELIGIBILITY FOR AUTHORSHIP
To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to POACE, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:
-
Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, or the analysis or interpretation of research findings.
-
Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for important intellectual content.
-
Approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication, including substantive revisions.
-
Accept accountability for their contribution and cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of the research.
Individuals who make substantial contributions should be given an appropriate opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, critical review, and final approval so that they can meet the authorship criteria. These criteria apply to empirical, theoretical, conceptual, policy, and other forms of research within the scope of POACE.
2. AUTHOR CONTRIBUTION STATEMENT
Every manuscript submitted to POACE must include an Author Contributions statement specifying the actual contributions of each author. All listed authors must review and approve the statement before submission.
Authors may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) or a clear narrative description appropriate to the research. Multiple authors may share the same role, and one author may perform several roles. However, listing a particular contribution does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship; all authorship criteria must be satisfied.
Illustrative format:
-
Author A: conceptualization, research design, methodology, and original manuscript drafting.
-
Author B: data collection, formal analysis, interpretation of findings, and critical manuscript revision.
-
Author C: validation, visualization, and review of the manuscript.
All authors approved the final manuscript and agreed to be accountable for their respective contributions.
For single-author manuscripts, the statement should describe the work performed by the sole author. All contribution statements must reflect the actual work undertaken and must not contain unsupported declarations.
3. AUTHOR APPROVAL AND ORDER
All authors must agree to the submission of the manuscript to POACE, the complete list of authors, the order of their names, the contribution statement, and the designation of the corresponding author. Any substantive revision to the manuscript must also be approved by the authors.
The order of authorship should be determined collectively by the authors, considering their respective contributions and relevant disciplinary conventions. POACE does not determine individual contributions solely on the basis of author order, academic position, institutional affiliation, or seniority.
Statements of equal contribution or joint first authorship may be included when they accurately reflect the authors' contributions and have been agreed upon by all relevant authors.
Each author should understand the overall research, identify their own contributions, and know which co-authors are responsible for other major components of the work. All authors are expected to cooperate in addressing questions concerning research integrity.
4. CORRESPONDING-AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the author group and the POACE editorial team. The designation of corresponding author does not confer exclusive ownership of the research or the authority to disregard the rights and approvals of other authors.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
-
Ensuring that all eligible authors are included and have approved the manuscript submission.
-
Providing accurate author names, affiliations, contact information, and contribution statements.
-
Confirming that all required declarations and supporting documents have been completed.
-
Communicating editorial decisions, reviewer comments, and revision requests to all co-authors.
-
Coordinating revisions and obtaining the necessary approval from co-authors before resubmission.
-
Maintaining a valid contact address and facilitating responses to editorial enquiries before and after publication.
5. NON-AUTHOR CONTRIBUTORS AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, provided they have given permission to be named.
Activities such as general supervision, administrative support, institutional leadership, provision of facilities, routine technical assistance, translation, proofreading, or funding acquisition alone do not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. Individuals performing these activities may qualify as authors if they also satisfy all authorship criteria.
Professional writing, language-editing, or other editorial assistance must be acknowledged where applicable, including the identity of the contributor and the source of funding, if any. Funding information must also be reported in the appropriate Funding statement. Acknowledgment of assistance does not replace the requirement to disclose funding sources or competing interests.
6. UNACCEPTABLE AUTHORSHIP PRACTICES
POACE does not permit the following authorship practices:
-
Gift or honorary authorship: Including an individual as an author because of their academic position, seniority, personal relationship, or institutional status without an eligible scholarly contribution.
-
Guest authorship: Adding a prominent or influential individual to increase the perceived credibility of a manuscript without meeting the authorship criteria.
-
Ghost authorship: Excluding an eligible contributor or concealing substantive writing or research assistance that should be disclosed.
-
Authorship trading or coercion: Buying, selling, exchanging, or demanding authorship positions without a legitimate scholarly contribution.
-
Misrepresentation of contributions: Providing inaccurate, exaggerated, or fabricated descriptions of an author's role in the research.
Artificial intelligence (AI) systems and other automated tools cannot meet the requirements for authorship, approval, and accountability and must not be listed as authors. The use of AI tools in preparing a manuscript must comply with the journal's AI Usage Policy.
7. CHANGES TO AUTHORSHIP
Requests to add or remove an author, change the order of authors, or change the corresponding author must be submitted to the POACE editorial office and include:
-
The manuscript title, submission identifier, and a clear explanation of the requested change.
-
An updated Author Contributions statement, where applicable.
-
Written agreement from all affected authors, including the author being added or removed, where applicable.
All authorship changes are subject to editorial assessment and are not automatically approved merely because the author group requests them. Editorial review or publication processing may be suspended while the request is evaluated.
After acceptance, authorship changes will be subject to particular scrutiny because authorship arrangements should normally be settled before submission.
For articles already published, approved authorship changes will be implemented in accordance with the journal's Corrections Policy. If agreement from an affected author cannot reasonably be obtained, such as in cases of death or incapacity, the requesting authors must provide a detailed explanation and supporting information for editorial assessment.
8. AUTHORSHIP DISAGREEMENTS
Authors are expected to resolve disagreements concerning contributions, authorship eligibility, and author order before submitting a manuscript to POACE.
The editorial team may request explanations, contribution statements, and supporting documentation to clarify an authorship concern. However, the journal does not independently adjudicate disputes about the allocation of work within a research team.
Unresolved disputes may be referred to the relevant institution or another competent body for investigation. Editorial processing may be suspended until sufficient clarification is obtained. Any formal investigation or action affecting a published article will be handled in accordance with the journal's research integrity procedures and Corrections Policy.
RELATED POLICIES AND CONTACT
Authors should consult the journal's Manuscript Preparation Guidelines for instructions on preparing Author Contributions and Acknowledgments statements. Submission Requirements specify the author information and supporting documents required during submission. Competing interests and the use of AI tools are governed by their respective journal policies.
