MEMANFAATKAN EKOWISATA UNTUK MEMPERKUAT EKONOMI LOKAL BERBASIS KOMUNITAS: STUDI DARI TAMAN NASIONAL BROMO TENGGER SEMERU JAWA TIMUR INDONESIA

Kawasan Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger semeru memiliki potensi ekowisata yang besar, namun pemanfaatannya dalam memperkuat ekonomi lokal masih belum optimal. Ketimpangan akses ekonomi, keterbatasan kapasitas manajerial pelaku usaha, serta ketergantungan pada musim kunjungan wisata menjadi tantangan utama. Kondisi ini menunjukkan urgensi pengelolaan ekowisata yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran ekowisata dalam memperkuat ekonomi lokal berbasis komunitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif dengan desain fenomenologi untuk memahami pengalaman subjektif masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan peluang ekonomi dari aktivitas ekowisata. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap pelaku usaha meliputi pengrajin lokal, pemandu wisata, penyedia jasa wisata, penjual suvenir, serta pelaku usaha produk olahan pertanian. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan transkripsi, reduksi, kategorisasi, dan interpretasi makna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekowisata berkontribusi mendorong pertumbuhan UMKM melalui diversifikasi usaha seperti homestay, transportasi wisata, kuliner lokal, dan kerajinan khas daerah. Selain itu, ekowisata juga berperan dalam menciptakan lapangan kerja, meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat, serta memperkuat kapasitas kewirausahaan berbasis komunitas. Namun tantangan yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan kapasitas manajerial pelaku usaha dan ketergantungan pada fluktuasi kunjungan wisata. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pengelolaan ekowisata berbasis partisipasi masyarakat merupakan kunci dalam menguatkan pembangunan ekonomi lokal berkelanjutan serta menjaga kelestarian lingkungan. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi perumusan kebijakan yang mendorong sinergi antara ekowisata dan pelaku UMKM.

ABSTRACT

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area has significant ecotourism potential, yet its utilization to strengthen the local economy remains suboptimal. Economic inequality, limited managerial capacity among business operators, and dependence on the tourist season pose the primary challenges. These conditions underscore the urgency of implementing inclusive and sustainable ecotourism management to improve the well-being of local communities. This study aims to analyze the role of ecotourism in strengthening community-based local economies. It employs an interpretive qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to understand the subjective experiences of communities in capitalizing on economic opportunities from ecotourism activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of business operators, including local artisans, tour guides, tourism service providers, souvenir sellers, and operators of processed agricultural products. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of transcription, reduction, categorization, and interpretation of meaning. The research findings indicate that ecotourism contributes to driving the growth of MSMEs through business diversification, such as homestays, tourist transportation, local cuisine, and regional handicrafts. Additionally, ecotourism plays a role in creating jobs, increasing community income, and strengthening community-based entrepreneurial capacity. However, the challenges faced include limited managerial capacity among business operators and dependence on fluctuations in tourist visits. This study emphasizes that community-participatory ecotourism management is key to strengthening sustainable local economic development and preserving the environment. These findings have important implications for policy formulation that promotes synergy between ecotourism and SMEs operators.
