Abstract

This study describes how Indonesia's efforts to maintain sovereignty in the South China Sea border conflict. So far, there has been no settlement point between the two parties. Thus the conflict continues to grow with increasing military power among claimant states. The escalation of the conflict certainly threatens security in the region. Although not the only country in direct contact, Indonesia is directly adjacent to the South China Sea and has an interest in such matters as waters, namely political stability, economy, and security. Indonesia has taken a series of steps to secure ts nterests n the form of a decision as ndonesia maintains a security strategy, especially those directly adjacent to the South China Sea. This study uses a qualitative method by explaining various facts. The technique used to collect data to study the problem is library research in the form of journals, books, official documents, articles, and websites. The theoretical framework used in this research is realism perspective, concept and theory of national security. National security is a form of capability for states to provide protection for each state from indications of external threats based on perspective.
