Page Layout and Formatting
Authors must follow the official JUMATISI manuscript template for page size, margins, font type and size, line spacing, heading styles, tables, figures, and reference formatting.
2. TITLE, AUTHOR INFORMATION, ABSTRACT, AND KEYWORDS
Title
The title must be concise, specific, and informative, reflecting the main subject and contribution of the research. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations, overly broad expressions, and unsupported claims.
Author Information
Provide the full names of all authors without academic titles, followed by their institutional affiliations and country. Identify the corresponding author and provide an email address and ORCID identifier, where available.
Author information must be entered consistently in the manuscript and OJS submission metadata. Any anonymisation requirements for peer review must follow the journal's submission procedures.
Abstract
The abstract must be self-contained and clearly describe:
-
The research background or problem.
-
The research objective.
-
The methods, materials, or analytical approach.
-
The principal findings, including relevant quantitative results where available.
-
The conclusion and practical implications.
Avoid citations, unexplained abbreviations, excessive technical detail, and statements unsupported by the research findings.
Keywords
Provide 3–5 specific keywords separated by semicolons. Keywords should reflect the principal research concepts, materials, methods, or applications and should not simply repeat the entire title.
3. ORGANISATION OF THE MAIN TEXT
Research articles should generally follow the structure below. Adjustments may be made when justified by the nature of the research and the official JUMATISI template.
3.1 Introduction
The Introduction should explain the research background, problem statement, relevant previous studies, research gap, objectives, and expected contribution. Establish the significance of the research in civil engineering and explain how the study addresses a practical or scientific problem.
3.2 Literature Review or Theoretical Background
Present the theories, technical principles, design standards, previous research, and relevant scientific references supporting the study. Critically discuss previous findings and identify the relationship between the literature and the present research.
This section may be integrated into the Introduction when appropriate to the research design and manuscript structure.
3.3 Research Methods
Describe the research design and procedures in sufficient detail to enable readers to understand and, where possible, reproduce the study.
Depending on the research topic, include:
-
Research location and study period, where relevant.

Materials, specimens, equipment, and instruments.
-
Research variables and specimen preparation procedures.
-
Experimental procedures, field surveys, or numerical modelling.
-
Data collection methods and measurement procedures.
-
Analytical methods, calculation procedures, and relevant design standards.
-
Software used for structural analysis, numerical modelling, or data processing, where applicable.
For experimental studies, report relevant specimen dimensions, material properties, mix proportions, loading conditions, and testing procedures. For numerical studies, explain the model assumptions, boundary conditions, loading, material properties, and validation procedures where applicable.
3.4 Results and Discussion
Present research findings in a logical order aligned with the research objectives. Use tables, figures, graphs, equations, and quantitative data where they improve understanding.
The Discussion should interpret the findings, compare them with previous studies or applicable standards, explain their engineering significance, and identify limitations. Avoid merely repeating the results without analysis.
Results and Discussion may be combined into one section when this produces a clearer presentation.
3.5 Conclusion
The Conclusion should directly answer the research objectives and summarise the principal findings. Include relevant quantitative results where appropriate, explain the main contribution, and state practical implications for civil engineering.
Recommendations for further research may be included where relevant. Do not introduce new data or unsupported claims.
3.6 Additional Sections
Acknowledgments and other applicable declarations should be included according to the journal's policies and the official manuscript template.
4. TABLES, FIGURES, AND ENGINEERING ILLUSTRATIONS
-
Number tables and figures separately in the order of their first appearance in the manuscript.
-
Refer to every table and figure in the main text.
-
Provide concise, informative titles or captions and identify units, symbols, abbreviations, and relevant test conditions.
-
Prepare tables as editable text rather than screenshots.
-
Ensure that graphs, structural diagrams, experimental photographs, and engineering drawings remain clear and legible at publication size.
-
Use consistent symbols, line types, dimensions, legends, and units throughout the manuscript.
-
Do not rely on colour alone to distinguish data series or structural elements.
-
Identify the source of reproduced or adapted material and obtain permission where required.
-
Ensure that photographs and illustrations accurately represent the research and do not mislead readers.
For structural analysis and design studies, clearly identify support conditions, loading arrangements, member dimensions, material properties, and relevant structural parameters in the figures or accompanying explanations.
5. ABBREVIATIONS, EQUATIONS, AND TECHNICAL NOTATION
Abbreviations
Define non-standard abbreviations at their first occurrence and use them consistently throughout the manuscript. Use recognised technical abbreviations and terminology relevant to civil engineering.
Equations
Prepare mathematical expressions using an editable equation editor. Number equations consecutively when they are referred to in the text.
Units and Numerical Presentation
Use the International System of Units (SI) consistently wherever applicable. Report measurement units, specimen quantities, loading values, material properties, and numerical precision clearly.
Engineering Standards and Design Codes
Identify the applicable design codes, technical standards, and editions used in the research. Examples may include relevant Indonesian National Standards (SNI), structural design provisions, testing standards, and other recognised technical references.
Quotations and Source Attribution
Distinguish direct quotations from the authors' own analysis. Provide appropriate citations and page numbers where required. Translations of source material must preserve the original meaning and acknowledge the source.
