Authorship & Contributorship

1. Criteria for Authorship

A person qualifies as an author when he or she has:

  1. made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, data collection, or analysis of the study;
  2. drafted or critically revised the manuscript;
  3. approved the final version; and
  4. agreed to be accountable for the work.

2. Student–Supervisor Authorship

Because PROFETIK is a student journal, many articles derive from undergraduate theses (skripsi). The student who conducted the research is normally the first author. Supervisors may be listed as co-authors when they meet the criteria above. Supervision alone, without intellectual contribution to the article, should be recorded in the Acknowledgments rather than in the author list.

3. Contributions That Do Not Qualify

Providing funding, general administrative support, language editing, or access to a research site does not by itself justify authorship. These contributions should instead be recognised in the Acknowledgments.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author communicates with the journal on behalf of all co-authors and ensures that all of them have approved the submission and any revisions.

5. Changes to the Author List

Additions, deletions, or changes in order after submission require a written request explaining the reason, signed or confirmed by email by all authors. Changes are not permitted after acceptance except in exceptional, documented circumstances.

6. AI Tools

AI tools cannot be listed as authors (see AI Usage Policy).
