Editorial Independence

PROFETIK’s editorial decisions are based solely on the scholarly merit of a manuscript, its relevance to the journal’s scope, and its compliance with ethical standards.

1. Freedom from Institutional and Commercial Influence

Neither Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro, the Faculty of Islamic Studies, nor any funder or sponsor may require the acceptance, rejection, or modification of a manuscript. Payment of the Article Processing Charge occurs only after acceptance and has no bearing on the decision.

2. Equal Treatment of Internal Authors

PROFETIK is a student journal of the PAI Study Program, and many authors are students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro whose supervisors serve on the editorial team. To safeguard independence:

  • an editor who is a co-author, thesis supervisor, or examiner of the author may not handle or decide that manuscript;
  • such manuscripts are assigned to a non-conflicted editor and reviewed by at least one reviewer from outside Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro;
  • submissions from editors themselves are handled by another editor, and the submitting editor has no access to the review records.

3. Equal Treatment of External Authors

Manuscripts from other universities and from non-student authors are assessed against exactly the same criteria as those from Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro.

4. Reporting Interference

Any attempt to influence an editorial decision improperly should be reported to the Editor-in-Chief or, if the Editor-in-Chief is involved, to the Head of the PAI Study Program.
